I'm Clare Thornley and I am excited to announce that I am the new owner of FeltFine! Gary and I are working closely to ensure that the handover is smooth and seamless. We anticipate that I will take over the business before the end of 2016.
I thought I'd take this opportunity to tell you a bit about myself. I live with my husband, Paul, and two boys (ages 7 and 5) on a small acreage in Jilliby on the NSW Central Coast, just off the M1. I grew up in Iowa in the United States, I learned to crochet and knit from my mother and her mother. More recently, I have learned to spin and dye and look forward to learning to weave and felt. I have a PhD in historical musicology (although that has no relationship to the fibre arts!) I am a member of the Central Coast Hand Weavers, Spinners and Textile Arts Guild; the Knitters Guild; the Black and Coloured Sheep Association and others.
We will continue to sell the same great products for which FeltFine is known. And Gary will continue to make his famous batts for us. Once we get set up, you are welcome to stop by our place (much in the same way that Gary used to do) to see the fibres first hand. Our first market/show will be at the Grampians Texture in Halls Gap, VIC in mid-March, and we are scheduled to be at several smaller events in April, May and June. I will update the blog with upcoming markets and shows (as well as post updates on Facebook). In the meanwhile, feel free to introduce yourself to us in the comments below.
We are so excited about this opportunity and hope you will continue to consider FeltFine when you want to buy yarns, batts, tops and other fibre-related items.
