FibreX - 22 June 2019

Clare Thornley

Have you heard the news? We are organising a wool and fibre event that we are calling FibreX on Saturday 22 June 2019 on the New South Wales Central Coast. Here are the details:

When: Saturday 22 June 2019, 9am-5pm

Where: Fine Arts Studio, Ourimbah Campus of University of Newcastle. (Click here to see where it is on Google Maps)

Who should attend: Anyone with a love of the fibre arts - it doesn't matter if you are new to craft, have been crafting your entire life, have never crafted - this event is for you! Come and appreciate what the Central Coast fibre arts community has to offer. Families welcome!

What to expect:

  • a marketplace with 28 stall holders (both local Central Coast folks and vendors from further afield. We will publish a list in the coming weeks) - vendors will include suppliers, indie-dyers, fibre artists, makers
  • a community craft space (bring your wheel/spindle/needles/hook/sewing/felting project/etc and come and craft with a group of like-minded people)
  • 6 workshops taught by leading fibre artists
  • a lunch-time panel discussion acknowledging the lack of diversity in the fibre arts and what we can do to actively change this reality
  • free parking, easy and level access
  • food truck and coffee van

Cost: The marketplace and community craft space are free! The workshops will have a fee (it will vary by workshop, more details soon!)

Workshop details: We have been announcing the workshops and their tutors on social media over the past few weeks. On 15 April, we will post on our website (just like this blog post...) a detailed list of all 6 workshops and the associated costs. Registration for all workshops will open on 1 May. You will be able to register via feltfine.com.au. We will post more information on 15 April.
